October: Case of the Month review
“I can’t stand my dentures.” This patient was a recent referral from one of our trusted local doctors. She recently had all her teeth extracted and a set of dentures fabricated. She found them bulky, uncomfortable, and wasn’t able to chew with them.
Pre-Treatment Findings
- Since it had only been a few months since her tooth extractions, her gum tissue had healed but her bone remained rough and required smoothing.
- She experienced difficulty chewing with her current situation.
- She complained that food didn’t taste the same as it used to.

Treatment Plan
The treatment plan for this patient was to proceed with upper and lower fixed implant bridges (AOX) with IV sedation and immediate provisionalization.
Outcome
The patient underwent her surgery and received a set of milled PMMA temps the next day. She is smiling and happy she can chew and smile with her teeth in place!
